Memorial Day Weekend

Something that truly inspires me in photography (besides animals, obviously) is food.  The great thing about this particular inspiration is that I also happen to love cooking.  This weekend I got a major hankering for some pineapple upside down cake.  Nothing says summer like enjoying some juicy pineapple, and I mean c'mon... who doesn't love a cake. I made this most delicious pineapple upside cake this saturday, and since i'm just going to put it all out on the table here in this blog... i'll be honest... we ate it for dinner instead of eating an actual dinner. There we go. I'm a photographer, and possibly a bad person for feeding this to myself and my fiance for dinner. Oh well... we both loved it

On Monday of Memorial Day weekend the weather was absolutely fabulous.  My friend and I laid out for awhile on my deck and after a few hours we got a bit hungry.  I had these big, plump cherries in my fridge so I brought them up onto the deck.  They were so wonderfully bright and cheery I couldn't help but photograph them. Even if this is just an iPhone image, I think it came out really beautifully and wanted to share. Very summery indeed :)

How was your memorial day weekend?

Tucker Shoot

Had a shoot with Tucker in the South Loop yesterday.  It was a really great shoot, the apartment had lots of natural light with floor to ceiling windows.  Tucker took to me immediately, which is always a nice sign that a shoot is going to go well.  He posed very nicely and was a very handsome man.  Because there was so much light to work with, I decided to incorporate my non-prime wideangle lens at a higher aperture, which ended up working out great.  I'm in love with the photos from this shoot - I hope you like them too!

Tucker really hammed it up!

This is one of my new favorite shots. I love the way Tucker matches the pillows in the back. The light was just so scrumptious in this room.

Tucker is a dog about town! The South Loop really provided some wonderful backdrops.

It was so lush outside after so much rain.  Made for beautiful bokeh!

Tucker loves his dad, Ryan.
